Our story
A lot of lagoon hours.
Hobie Cape was started by Jaco du Plessis and Colin Whitehead, both of whom have sailed their whole lives, in leisure and competitive sailing. Between them: a past International Hobie Class President, a South African Sailing multihull councillor, instructors, and active Hobie and big-boat sailors.
Shannon runs the shop day to day, and keeps plenty of new and second-hand parts on the shelves to help keep Hobie sailing affordable. The rest is what it has always been: lessons, skippered charters, bare-boat rentals, boats, spares and the Hobie family vibe.
